The second placed Roger Federer at the US Open continues his excellent series in the United States. Federer easily qualified for the third round, defeating Steve Darcis from Belgium with 6:1, 6:2, 6:1 for an hour and 20 minutes.
The five-time champion in New York finished with 46 winners, including 11 aces and won 86 percent of the points on first serve. Federer recorded a seventh consecutive victory (five at the tournaments in Cincinnati) without losing his submission in total 72 service games.
"I managed to mix well my game, I was attacking, but I stood on the baseline. Maybe I was too aggressive, which with an another rival would not give the same result," said the 34 yeas old recorder of Grand Slam titles.
The next rival of Roger is the No29 seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber. The German won against Lukas Rosol from Czech Republic with 7:6 (4), 6:2, 6:2.
The third placed Andy Murray suffered a nightmare, but he continues. The Olympic champion prevailed over the French left-handed Adrian Manarino after 5:7, 4:6, 6:1, 6:3, 6:1.
In the first two sets Manarino scored 30 winners against 23 of Murray and achieved three attacks against one of the opponent. From the beginning of the third part the Scot found his rhythm and won the next three sets for a total of an hour and a half.
In the third round Murray expects another lefty - the Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci.
The veteran Lleyton Hewitt split with US Open with a style. The champion of 2001 has played his last game via football predictions in New York at the loss of the other Australian Bernard Tomic with 3:6, 2:6, 6:3, 7:5, 5:7 in a match that lasted three hours and a half.
On the typical style of Lleyton, he lost the first two sets easily, but then he came back in the match and even squandered two match points in the fifth part before the surrender.
