Kevin Anderson, as well as Richard Gasquet, qualified for the quarterfinals of the Tokyo tennis tournament. South African Anderson coped with the rising American star Frances Tiafoe and beat him 6:3, 3:6, 6:2. Anderson resorted to his usual weapon - the strong starting blow, realizing 18 aces, allowing only two breakthroughs, one of which was realized in the second set.
In the first set the South African player made a break and it was enough to pull ahead. In the second he tried to solve the match early, but Tiafoe saved three breakthroughs and in turn realized one to equalize the parts. In the third set, however, Anderson did go up high, made an early break and quickly led to 4:1, which also determined the direction of the match.
Expecting it already in the quarterfinals, Richard Gasquet is also there after he clashes with the Australian Nick Kyrgios with 7:6 (4), 7:6 (1). The match by tennis news was literally a point-to-point point to the second tiebreak, where the Australian failed to resist. In the first he fought to 4:2 when Gaske lied to him with two passing strokes along the line.
Stefanos Tsitsipas dealt with Alex de Minaur with 6:3, 5:7, 6:1, but the season is good for both of them, as the youngsters slipped into the top 50 of the world tennis. De Minaur, who was not set up, had a hard time closing his serve by allowing 20 break points to save only 14 points. Cicipas will face Kei Nishikori in quarter-finals, with the host`s winner twice winning the tournament. Also in the draw, Jan-Lennard Struff (Germany) beat Jeremy Chardy (France) with 7:6 (3), 6:7 (2), 6:4. This is the first quarterfinals since May and will be against Denis Shapovalov (Canada).
